An alternative to the Petra ride that links many of the inland villages, and provides a steady climb to the Café at Cura. Good views if weather is fine; if not stop at Randa, or just shorten the 70 mile loop at any point.
Take main road, C712, south from Port d’Alcudia towards Can Picafort, but after a couple of miles at Las Gaviotas take right at traffic lights between shops/bars towards Sa Pobla. Follow the “Marshes Road” through reeds to Sa Pobla. In Sa Pobla turn left, then right, and look for signs to left for Llubi. Follow Llubi road for about 2.5 miles. Turn right at T junction onto road from Muro, and fork left (care) to Llubi. In Llubi find road south to Sineu, and continue south to Montuiri. You will probably have difficulty finding signs to Randa, (the direct crossing of the main Palma road has been blocked off), so go South until you find the C715 Palma road. Then look for junction to Randa, and cross with care – don’t wait between carriageways.
Take it steady on the drag up to Randa, then follow sign left to climb up to the Cura Sanctuary. (This is the highest of 3 on this hill). You will be in need of refreshment by this time, and there is a café. Enjoy the views before descending.
Follow your outward route back, freewheeling most of the way to Montuiri.
Then follow the PM322 towards Sant Joan. Before entering village, find
minor road directly north to Sineu, with its picturesque approach. Leave
Sineu on PM351 and make for Maria de la Salut, before continuing to Santa
Margarita. Turn right off the main road to visit the village centre, and
maybe take a break in the square where there is a choice of bars. Leave
Santa Margarita going north east on the PM341 towards Can Picafort. Join
the main coast road, C712, back via Alcudia.
