Olympic Torch in Kirkwall on Sunday

My debut as an Olympic Torch bearer is fast approaching – this Sunday at about 0945 to be precise.

I understand that I will be the last runner.  I’ll enter the track at the Pickaquoy Centre in Kirkwall, run a lap and then light the Cauldron!  Job done.

Seems strange that 30 years ago I chose to make a new life in Orkney and now, all these years later,  I have been nominated, by the local community, for this honour.

My shortest-ever run – why am I so nervous?

It will be quite a day!
